Why see The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker?
An LA Nutcracker Tradition!
This remarkable holiday production is created by the great dancer and choreographer Debbie Allen, with help from a truly international teaching team for the young dancers, who are guaranteed to steal the show. Pop icon Mariah Carey provides the musical score for this production, giving it a truly starry feel! The classic Tchaikovsky ballet is transported to 1928-era New Orleans with a new spin where young Kara Johnson's family is holding a festive Christmas Eve Party.
What Is The Story?!
Upon receiving a Nutcracker doll filled with rich hot chocolate, Kara inevitably falls asleep, only to wake up in a land of wonder. There she will meet a trio of wisecracking mice, who guide Kara on a magical journey, whilst providing narrative structure to the on-stage action.
The young dancers that you see on stage are all students of Debbie Allen's Dance Academy; all proceeds from sales will go to provide funding for more classes for young people in the greater Los Angeles area, teaching children from all backgrounds the art of dance from across different cultures and backgrounds.
