Myth, magic and adventure with King Arthur!
The spirit of Arthurian adventure in ballet form!
The spirit of Arthurian adventure in ballet form!
The Ancient Arthurian legends are brought to life in ballet form by Pacific Festival Ballet! This breathtaking new original work choreographed by Kim Maselli and Eric Allaman will transport you back to a mystical medieval realm of castles and chaos, wars and wizards, and fairies and dragons as the fabled king of Camelot and his knights and ladies must defy the odds to protect their kingdom!
The legend of King Arthur originates in Welsh folklore as a figure who helped fight off the Anglo-Saxons - a.k.a. the English - who invaded Britain from Northern Europe in the fifth century. With the English eventually assimilating into the British population, through the centuries the tale was co-opted and re-appropriated multiple times by English and French writers, poets and troubadours, morphing the tale into the King Arthur of Camelot we know of today, no longer a resistance leader fighting the English, but a general symbol of a romanticized medieval British or English past. Many of the most famous fantasy tropes come from the Arthurian legends, be it the wizard Merlin, the legendary sword Excalibur, the beautiful Lady Guinevere and, of course the famous castle of Camelot. The chance to relive these famous old folk tales through ballet is certain to be an unforgettable experience!
