Festive Majestic

Celebrate the festive season the right way, by experiencing a performance of Vivaldi's glorious Gloria with the Los Angeles Philharmonic! Emmanuelle Haim, artist collaborator with the L.A. Phil, conducts her early-music ensemble Le Concert D'Astree alongside the fuller orchestra through this iconic and truly rousing work. Preceded by other joyful early classical works such as Corelli's Christmas Concerto, Haim and her ensemble are world leaders in Baroque performances today, highly acclaimed by Gramophone and others, and the perfect pairing for this festive performance!

Vivaldi's Gloria is one of the composer's best loved masterpieces, despite almost being lost; lying undiscovered in a pile of his manuscripts until the 1920s, it wasn't performed until Alfredo Casella's 1939 edited version, and it wasn't till 1957 that the original and authentic piece was first heard by audiences. An exultant hymn, the piece has become one of Vivaldi's most popular pieces and is regularly performed all over the world.
