An opera based on a grunge icon
Adapted from the 2005 HBO movie of the same name, LA Philharmonic New Music Group present Last Days, a gripping opera loosely based on the final days of grunge icon Kurt Cobain's life. Blake fronts a famous band and has recently broken free from a stint of rehab to return home. Home provides little escape from the outside world though; plagued by stalking superfans, a pushy manager, private investigators and toxic friends looking for handouts, he begins to withdraw into himself, until a shadowy apparition appears with the offer of a fatal escape from everything.
Co-directed by Matt Copson and Anna Morrissey and with music composed by Oliver Leith, this tale of turmoil and tragedy is a haunting look at the inner impacts of the famously hedonistic rock n roll lifestyle. A stunning work.
