What do a leg lamp, pink bunny pajamas, and a department store Santa all have in common? Why, they're all featured in the beloved Yuletide movie A Christmas Story of course! Following the exploits of pint-sized protagonist Ralphie, Bob Clark's holiday classic jumps from the screen and onto the Ahmanson Theatre's stage in this Tony-winning musical adaptation this December!
What is the story?
The bespectacled youngster Ralphie has his hands full dodging bullies and dreaming of the perfect Christmas present - a Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. Much to his chagrin, his pleas fall on deaf ears, his mother, teacher and even a local Santa say the dangerous toy is more likely to take an eye out than provide hours of endless entertainment. When the big day finally approaches, there are many wonderful presents waiting for Ralphie under the tree, but no sign of the coveted BB gun...

Perfection, Streamlined, Honest
This intimate theatre was perfect for this perfect comedian. His writing and
presentation was flawless.. He reflects an honesty of our human species which
quickly disarms the hearts of the audience. I felt like I’d just had a heart to heart with “Uncle Jamesâ€, who’d humorously disclosed his personal feelings about growing up. It takes great skill to cleverly and clearly communicate private insights of one’s own journey through life, and most certainly courage. James Acaster does it all. He is an extremely talented storyteller for
any age group. His ability to use such effective body language and his facial expressions are so entertaining, his anecdotes immediately engage his listeners. He needed absolutely nothing else but himself on stage except the simple black background. No distractions. Good decision. He was that good.
