"Stay Gold"

Directed by Oscar winner Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now), The Outsiders is the ultimate paean to teen angst, and is stacked with young actors on the verge of superstardom. Based on the classic novel by S. E. Hinton, the story centers on a group of teens killing time in Tulsa, whose lives are upended when a brawl with rival gang members ends with a fatal stabbing. Facing the death penalty if they're caught, two of the boys leave town and hideout in an abandoned church, while the others behind to pick up the pieces.

Released in 1983, the cast features a host of young actors who would go onto hit the Hollywood big time, including Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Ralph Macchio, Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze and Emilio Estevez.
