Why see Thundercat?

king of the hill

Multifaceted artist and musical virtuoso Thundercat tours North America this fall! The bass player and singer has become somewhat of an icon for his seemingly bottomless pit of talent. Whether it's in his own grammy-winning discography of unique progressive R&B jams, his appearances as a side musician with other modern icons such as Kendrick Lamar and Mac Miller, or even his social media output, which at times has included bizarre skits, surrealist humor, outlandish fashion and homages to his favorite video games and anime.

Born Stephen Lee Bruner, Thundercat first gained recognition when he joined punk band Suicidal Tendencies. Finding his voice and image as the Thundercat we know today through his session work with psychedelic soul queen Erykah Badu and avant-hip-hop producer Flying Lotus, he has gone on to release four studio albums so far, as well as collaborations with Kamasi Washington, Gorillaz and Tame Impala. He also made his acting debut in 2022, appearing in The Book of Bobba Fett.
