The 2023 edition of KCRW's World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl brings together three genre-defining acts in alternative music: Pixies, Modest Mouse and Cat Power. Arguably one of the most influential bands in modern music, Pixies' jangly indie-rock famously went on to influence such historical acts as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, whilst NME named their 1989 record "Doolittle" as the second-greatest album of all time.

Modest Mouse's three-decade career has similarly see them reach legendary echelons in the indie-rock lore, with two gold and one platinum-selling record under their belts. Cat Power, meanwhile, is known for a genre-defying freedom in her back catalog, blending elements of folk, blues, punk rock and more, with her unique output influencing many of todays most prominent indie artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Angel Olsen and Julien Baker.
