"Her songs seem to have endless permutations of arrangements: instead of set melodies and structures to be rigidly adhered to, in Badu's hands they sound like living, breathing and growing entities."

Erykah Badu and St. Vincent share the stage at KCRW's World Music Festival
Reigning queen of neo-soul Erykah Badu is taking to the Hollywood Bowl stage this Summer as part of KCRW's World Festival, bringing her smooth blend of sophisticated alt RnB along with her. She's known as the "First Lady of Neo-Soul" and rightfully so - her fearless innovation and possession of one of the most sonorous, expressive vocal styles ever to grace the airwaves has seen her at the forefront of the genre since its rise in the eighties.
It's a double headline bill and another music maven is set to appear in the form of guitar goddess Annie Clarke, aka St Vincent. Making her debut with her first album Marry Me in 2007, Clarke solidified her superstar status with the release of 2014's self titled album, a raucous symphony of synth, fuzzy, swirling guitars and playful vocal hooks. Opening for these two formidable women will be Minnesotan vocal loop artist Moses Sumney.
