Mark Twain's beloved novel leaps from the page and onto the stage!
The thrilling adventures of Huckleberry Finn leap from the page and onto the stage during Marla Ladd's Mysterium staging of the 1985 Tony Award-winning Broadway blockbuster at the La Habra Depot Playhouse this Summer. Based on the timeless classic by Mark Twain, which stands tall in this country's proud literary tradition as "The Great American Novel", the production weaves together country legend Roger Miller's foot-stomping Bluegrass-infused score with vivid performances to bring the story's beloved characters to life.
Set in pre-civil-war era St. Petersburg, Missouri, the high-spirited adventure follows vagabond wild child Huckleberry Finn and Jim, a runaway slave, who band together and take an epic journey down the might Mississippi river in search of freedom. Huck is fleeing the forced custody of his abusive, alcoholic father, whilst Jim is searching for his wife and child in the free North, and together the runaways' paths cross with a host of colorful compatriots and freewheeling escapades.
